Question by marcus802001: Are there any auto insurance providers that do not use credit problems against you to make rates higher?
I just had to switch auto insurance providers, and since I have credit problems due to credit card debt, anyone I have checked with uses my bad credit against me for insurance quotes. My driving record is excellent, and I am trying to find an insurance company who will insure me according to my driving record, and not my credit rating.
How to Fix Bad Credit in as Little as Two to Three Years
In the good old days, if you were an irresponsible sort of chap ( or chappess), you could run up bad debts in one county, State, or country, and just nip across the border and do it again.
You only had to look at Spain’s record in the 60’s and 70’s, when many a train robber and other undesirable person would set up a cozy little(??) home for him and his mistress. Not that I am suggesting that your character has any leaning towards this sort of activity. These days any of us can get into bad debt almost by accident.
For instance, with the soaring divorce rate, how many homes get split up or repossessed, because what was comfortable for two incomes, becomes impossible on one.
Another area where misfortune can strike is with sickness, or say a car accident. If your partner suddenly became ill with cancer, or had a car smash, this could leave you minus one income, but with lots more bills.
So, it is no just the irresponsible these days that end up with a bad credit rating.
But – the world is shrinking. Try going into your bank these days and ask for a loan. The manager won’t just evaluate your personality any more, they all have to submit your profile to the computer. Not just their cozy little network, but the whole darned world wide web. So whatever your credit history, and for whatever reason it is as it is, there is no escape from it. If you have bad credit, you have no option but to try and repair it.
A person’s credit record has a lot of influence on his or her purchasing power, and on his or her ability to get loans on a favorable basis. Thus, if you have a bad credit rating, then you must undertake all the necessary steps in order to repair your credit and get a fixed bad credit. The first step that you need to take in order to fix bad credit is to obtain your credit report from the rating agencies, and check it for the errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. This will empower you by giving you the knowledge you need to dispute claims future lenders make about your credit.
To fix bad credit, you must make all your payments on time, and you should also take up a steady and reliable job. If you are able to show your income stability and your regular payment behavior to the lenders, then you may fix bad credit in a period of only 2 to 3 years.
You can even consult a credit counseling agency to get a fixed bad credit. These credit counseling agencies are organizations that have a number of people who are trained and experienced in the field of credit. There are also the commercial credit repair companies that help you fix bad credit. However, they charge a fee for the same.
However, you must always keep in mind that you are the one who has to do all the work in order to fix bad credit. Even though the credit counseling agencies can help you, you would not be able to benefit unless you know more about your credit report than anyone else. By contacting credit bureaus, making corrections on your own, and by repaying all your debts, you can fix bad credit on your own.
Don’t whatever you do, stick your head in the sand and hope your debts will disappear – because they won’t. You need help with bad credit.
Due to the size of the bad credit problem that is almost universal nowadays, there are many places you can turn to for help. But don’t jump out of the frying pan into the fire – make sure who you ask is properly qualified to help, or you could find yourself in the hands of some very unscrupulous members of the public.

Question by delightful: Are there any companies that actually help repair your credit ?
I get a lot of emails from Lexington Law Firm and a few other companies to repair my credit but I don’t wanna be scammed.
Best answer:
Answer by Phoenix No company can make your credit any better. Only you can do that by following good financial practices for the next several years.
There is no company out there that can do anything to make your current credit look any better. A company might be able to help you settle with your creditors and that might keep negative notes from being placed on your credit report, but no one can change your current credit report (as long as it is accurate).

Question by SGT K: If I start paying on some of my debts that show on my credit report, How long will it take to show improvement?
I want to start paying my debts to fix my credit score, I’ve been interested in becoming a police officer but my credit is terrible, which they do check. If I start paying my debts how long will it take to show any improvement? Is bankruptcy a good idea at age 27?
Best answer:
Answer by nu_girlie Bankruptcy is never a good idea at any age and should only be used as a completely last resort. Each creditor is different and updates credit reports at different intervals. Some report every 30 days whereas other might report only every 90 days. It can take some time for credit to show improvement. Unfortunately there is no quick fix. My best recommendation is start paying your bills and pay them on time, if you have credit cards stop using them so you can bring your balances down and if necessary contact your credits to negotiate balances and payment arrangements.

Question by Steamed Bean Bun: What are some good ways to rebuild credit?
What are some good ways to rebuild credit besides paying credit cards and bills on time? We already do these things and wanted to know if there was anything else we could do.
Best answer:
Answer by lnbjameson There are five basic components to your credit score. Paying your bills on time is only one of them.
Another is length of credit history, and there’s not much you can do about that since it’s governed by time. Just don’t close your oldest accounts and shorten your history.
Your debt to credit ratio is another. This is a formula that shows how much you owe versus how much credit has been granted to you. The lower the ratio the better. For example, if you’ve been granted ,000 in credit and are using 00 of it, you have a high ratio. But if you’re using only 00, you have a much better ratio. So, paying down your overall debt helps a lot.

My husband and I want to buy a house with in the next couple of yrs but our credit isn’t good at all. what steps should we begin take going forward.
Also, I have close to 50k in student loans, 2 car loans with a co signer, and minor credit cards. How will all this effect us and what to do. Rent is TOO expensive and really want a house.
Best answer:
Answer by Dan B Two key words: Discipline and Restraint.
Pay off credit cards and other debts. Limit their use. If you don’t have the cash, you can’t afford the credit. Pay your bills on time. A late charge of is a big chunk of change – it’s a additional credit card payment.
Put as much money as you can into a savings account.
If you have two cars, see if you can work out a plan to get rid of one of them. A car costs about 0 per month just to park a car in the driveway (insurance, registration, etc).
Hard part: Cut down the luxuries and fun stuff. Limit eating out to once a month – make it a date, not a night on the town. A simple movie instead of an expensive concert. Things like that. Cut back on expensive purchases. No vacations. Instead, go on “staycations” in the local area.
Start now. The two years of sacrifices wil pay big dividends after you close on your new home. Then you can start having fun again within your budget.

A credit card offers you to fulfill your needs and cut of your interest rate from a loan or insurance through your credit account. So you should be always careful on improving your credit score if you want to have the best benefits possible from your credit card. In case you are hit with some financial problem, you can improve credit ratings. You have to know what is showing on your credit report before you can take steps to fix the problems. One of the factors in your credit rating is your “available credit”. When you close credit cards with no balance you could be altering your available credit to balance ratio. If you’re your balance are over 50% of your available credit it will negatively affect your scores. First, you have to take a look at your current situation. If there is anything that you are doing now that is negatively affecting your credit score. For instance, you know you will be applying for a mortgage or car loan soon. You have also applied for several credit cards in a short period of time. If so, the credit bureaus are getting a lot of inquiries on your account. Too many inquiries in a short time will not improve credit score. So to improve credit, hold off or stop applying for credit. This will improve credit scores fast. If you are careless about paying those credit card bills, set up automatic withdrawal. Creditors are looking for financial stability. Paying on time proves to the creditors that you are financially stable. So above all, improve credit now by making sure those payments are on time. Always keep in mind that your credit score is dynamic. It can move up or down quickly on a monthly basis. If you can pay your balances in full every month, you can really improve your credit fast. These are the basics to help you improving your credit.
