I think my credit score is funked up. I used to own a house and I missed a payment or two when I was laid off from my job. I sold it and I paid off all my credit cards. I recently applied for a credit card and was denied.

I need to fix my credit score. Any suggetions?
I dont have any bills because I PAID OFF ALL MY CREDIT CARDS. I cant even get credit to pay down the bills early.

NO!! I wouldnt recommend those companies to anyone. They do not help you and will ruin your credit. They start by telling you to pay the fee to start the program, normally a few hundred $ , then they tell you that they will contact your credit card companies and arrange a payment plan. In most cases the company doesnt have to accept the plan, and even if they do it will take a few months for them to do so, leaving your bills unpaid for several months. Which will then place you in collections. (I work at a collection agency, and they do not have to accept the credit solutions monthly offer.) Also when you sign up for one of those programs, it goes on your credit that you did so, (my husband signed up once and when we went to buy our house the loan company informed us the credit solutions is about the same of having a bankrupcy on our credit) Your best bet is to call your credit card companies your self and work out an agreement on repayment. Your cards will all be closed in the fact you will not be able to use them, but most companies will allow you to set up a payment plan, in most cases that is less then what their min payment is. I have really, really, really bad credit anything you can think of. I want to repair it but I noticed almost all of it will be cleared up from my credit report in 3yrs any ways. Should I continue and neglect the payments and wait the 3yrs or should I try to pay them. It’s been about 4-5 yrs since I last paid my creditors. Some have told me to just wait because even if I did pay back all the creditors my credit report would still show that I was past due for so long. I should just hang and wait for the 3yrs and I’ll be good to go.

you can always do some secured credit cards. Many report positive credit lines.

I have a very low credit score with old delinquent accounts. I have heard paying off old accounts is pointless, and will not improve your score. Is there any way to fix credit on your own with out the use of a lawyer etc.
