What’s the fastest way to raise your credit score? To quote the classic magazine salesman from the movie Office Space “That all depends”… While the removal of negative items from your credit report will almost always result in an increase in your credit score, there is a method that works better. Here’s why. Adding positive accounts is actually more effective at improving your credit score (in the short term) than removing negative one. Unfortunately, few consumers or credit repair companies know this. One of the biggest problems with trying to get approved for new credit is that you need to “have” credit in order to be approved. This causes a sort of catch 22. How does one “get” credit if no one will give them credit because they don’t have any credit to begin with? A vicious cycle indeed, but a real one. However, if you have someone you can use a cosigner this is NOT a problem. Simply have them cosign on the new credit application for you. If you don’t have a cosigner, read on. Contrary to popular belief (or what myfico and credit repair companies would like you to believe), the largest factor in building a solid foundation for your credit score comes down to two credit scoring factors: 1.) The “High Credit Limit” and 2.) Your “Debt to Credit” Ratio Your high credit

Me and my husband are going through some tough financial times and are looking at a possible foreclosure on a home we own in Florida. How can you repair your credit after an foreclosure?

Answer by hyabusawife
This is tough. Is there a possibility that you can file bankruptcy instead? In most bankruptcy cases you can keep your home. A foreclosure is more damaging than bankruptcy. It will take years to repair your credit. Try to save your house first.

Question by Kristy R: How can you fix bad credit, can you wait it out until it disappears off your credit report?
I’ve heard bad stuff goes off your credit report after 7 years, so can you wait it out and have decent credit again after 7 years? Anyone know how that works or what to do to fix it?

Best answer:

Answer by scorpiomaj27
I thought the 7 year rule was for bankruptcy, it takes 7 years for that note on your credit to disappear. You can actually repair bad credit in a matter of months if you have some form of credit that you can keep up with. If you have 1 credit card and a terrible rating, that’s all you need – pay the card down to and charge a new each month and pay each month. The problem is if you close all your cards, then you have no way to rebuild.

Answer by ehnoda
Depends on why it is the way it is. Pay your bills on time, keep personal credit limits between 30 to 40%.(0 balance on ,000 credit limit) Run your own credit and seek counseling. You really have to work hard to get a credit score that low. Good luck. I was 120-days later on several cards and mine was still 580. Do not close or settle cards that will kill your credit too. Pay them off and work with them to see what they can do. Many creditors will work with you to reestablish, but beware many offers will close your account and count as a negative on your score too.
